Memorable Lyrics

From Just Another Movie

" Presidential elections are planned distractions
To divert attention from the action behind the scenes,
Like a game of chess when the house is a mess
Or a petty money squabble when your marriage is in trouble,
Or a football game when there's rioting in the streets

A fantastic debut album from Timbuk3! It features their most recognized song "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" and, close behind as their second most popular song, "Facts About Cats". From the wonderful tongue-in-cheek humor of "Future", to the portrayal of real life in "Life Is Hard", to the just-plain-fun in "Hairstyles And Attitudes" and "Friction", to the poignant statements in "Just Another Movie", this is an enjoyable album.

This is definitely one of my favorite albums of all times. My dad gave it to me when I was a kid. I picked up the CD not too long ago and it has since earned a permanent spot in my CD carousel.

This is my favorite band of all time. It's GREAT!!! I would give it a 22 or, no, 23! They're AWESOME!!!!!

Actually the refrain from "the future's so bright" was chosen by me as the introductory line for my thesis in theoretical physics when everybody else in the faculty was quoting from "Faust" by Goethe, Schiller and the likes. I always loved the song. I *always* turn the stereo on full blast when it's on the radio ;-) If you're still in contact with the band members I'd appreciate if you pass on my greetings and my gratitude for something that to me has become a timeless classic in my record collection.

When I was a kid I would drive from California to Missourri for summer vacations. I would listen to this particular album from TB3 the entire trip. I still love the great lyrics and superb sound.
